Welcome to Dance Pointe

We are excited that you will be joining us for an intro program soon. Please allow a little extra time before your first class to find the studio and check in.

Get Ready For Your Dance Intro

We’re looking forward to meeting you, and we hope you’re excited for your first class at Dance Pointe. Here are a couple of tips to help you get ready.

What to Expect

You’ll Get to Know Us. During your two-week intro program, you’ll get to know Dance Pointe by participating in classes, meeting instructors and administrative staff, learn more about how our programs are designed and how you can expect to progress with dance, music and theatre training.

We’ll Get to Know You

The intro program is an important time for us to get to know you and your student. What are your goals, or your student’s goals? What previous experience does your student have? What programs will be best suited to help you and your student succeed? Is your student a good candidate for ongoing training with Dance Pointe?

What to Wear

Comfortable, form-fitting clothing. Please tie long hair away from the face. A tank top or t-shirt and leggings is great. Boys can wear a t-shirt, shorts or joggers. It’s not necessary to purchase new dance wear before your first class. Dance Pointe uses a uniform, so when you arrive we will assist with measuring your student, and show you how to get the appropriate dancewear needed that is shipped right to you when your student is ready for the ongoing training.

Training

Students begin their training in skilled classes that are age and level appropriate that may include ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics and hip hop with ballet being the foundation. The terminology and technique students learn will serve them well throughout their dancing years, no matter what styles they end up gravitating to.  For music and theatre skill set techniques are introduced to start and then progress during your student’s ongoing training.

Individualized Recommendations

During your intro, our instructors will have the opportunity to work with your student in group classes, see them dance, and will be able to recommend the best ongoing program for their individual needs.  Same will apply to private intro to music lessons and group theatre classes.

What’s Next

Students new to the performing arts will join a fundamentals program and focus on developing strong basic skills. One class per week will be devoted to technique training with the second in technique or any other genre your student chooses.  Students can expect to practice at the fundamentals level from 12 to 24 months before qualifying for Level 2 or higher. Students who have some experience may be recommended for a higher-level program.  At higher levels, we spend more time on each of the core styles and add training in additional styles like modern or contemporary.

Performance

Performing is another important part of the Dance Pointe program twice per year in January and June. Performing not only provides students a concrete goal to work towards, but also serves as a reward for the hard work and discipline they practice during class.  All fundamentals and upper-level students will perform at our annual student recital, with upper-level students having additional performance opportunities as part of our performance competition team.

Leadership

At a higher level students at Dance Pointe stay fit, build strength, and develop grace and poise as a result of their dance training, but the benefits don’t stop there. We’ve seen for years how dance, music and theatre helps students learn discipline, focus, and develop unshakeable confidence. Our unique leadership program helps students connect these important skills to their dance and music training.  Each month we have a “leadership” focus studio wide and engage students in activities and discussions that help them see how their dance and music training is helping them develop that trait, how applying that trait will help them be a more successful student, and how that skill will follow them to be more successful at home, at school and in their friendships. We recognize that only a small percentage of the students who train with us at Dance Pointe will become professional dancers, musicians and performers, but all of them will become professional people. We’re passionate about helping them become the most successful people possible in and out of the classroom.

Dance Pointe Performing Arts is a great experience.

It allows my kids to learn new moves and talents, as well as discipline and understanding of how to accomplish your goals. In many different ways Dance Pointe has become like a family to us, because everyone there is nice and helps you and they understand your kids while getting to know you as well. I recommend people to come to this dance studio and to bring their children, because it is a place that makes you feel welcome.

Dance Pointe is great!

My daughter looks forward going every week and loves Mr. Jeff as a teacher. The staff is great and costumes are always beautiful. Everyone is very caring and willing to help!
